Memories & Stuff

Despair, Misery.

In the late 1960′s – early 1970′s, a Television show called “HEE-HAW.” was very popular.  Usually, a segment in each episode depicted four pathetic individuals that were singing about the sorry state of their lives.  Describing their problems in song was unnecessary because their appearance gave credence to their supposedly pitiful existence.

Included in the song they were singing were the words; “If I had no bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.” Certainly, there have been times when we all have felt much the same as these mournful songsters.  Times when everything that we attempted would take a turn for the worse.

We, like they, tend to place the blame on luck.  However, in most instances, we find that failure to follow proper procedures while seeking to correct a problem, was responsible for the unsuccessful consequence.

LUCK is defined as; “The seemingly chance happening of events which affect one.” When we rely on ‘seemingly chance happenings’ instead of proven techniques, we are surely inviting a series of bad luck.

How many times have we not taken the time and effort to determine that the power was turned off, before attempting to repair a switch?  Only when receiving the sting of the electricity did we realize our mistake.  We can then blame it on bad luck; or consider ourselves extremely lucky to have not been killed.

We tend to think that certain people are lucky at playing games of cards when, in fact, it is nothing more than a chance happening that they were dealt a winning hand.

Luck in all Casinos simply means that the time has arrived for the machine to pay off and it was a chance happening that you were feeding coins to that monster at the appropriate moment.  Luck had nothing to do with it.

We have all heard , or used, the words; “He’s lucky to have a new car;” without thinking about the hard work, the scrimping and saving that produced the purchase.  With this line of reasoning, is it any wonder that we consider ourselves unlucky if it happens that we cannot do likewise?

We all should refrain from relying on luck and utilize the vast amount of knowledge that we all possess to conduct our daily activities; or else we will experience more words from the above mentioned song, being;

“DEEP, DARK, DEPRESSION, – EXCESSIVE MISERY!”
