Very nice post. I can relate to some of what is said here. I did not know they tied kerosene strings their extremities though. I do know that chiggers do not imbed in the skin, they bit a nice little hole in the skin then spit an emzyne into to it, causing the flesh to dissolve into a mush it sucks up. They builds a shield around this area to protect itself, thus the mother of all itches in the healing process for up to 2 weeks. In my case always more.
Just sot you know, flowers of sulfur is a good repellent to powder on before going out.

This is especially good advice for women. We often don’t even consider “trying” to fix or install ourselves. It’s not always that tough.
